The History of Consumers Power

Consumers Power, Inc. is a privately owned nonprofit rural electric cooperative serving 17,426 members in parts of six counties in Oregon: Benton, Lincoln, Lane, Linn, Polk, and Marion. CPI’s headquarters are located at 6990 West Hills Road, Philomath, Oregon, near Corvallis, home of Oregon State University, in the heart of the Willamette Valley.

CPI’s service territory is divided into nine zones containing approximately the same number of members. CPI is governed by a nine-member board of directors, one from each zone, elected by the members to serve a three-year term. Elections for directors take place each year at the Cooperative’s annual meeting, which is usually held at CPI headquarters in September.
